USI Wrestling Camps

*12/15/2007* *Eagles Wrestling Camp*

The Eagles Wrestling club hosted a wrestling camp for grades K-8 on December 15, 2007. The camp was located in the REC on USI campus. The event turned out to be a success for the young wrestlers that attended. Only Eight actually came out to attend the camp due to a winter storm the night before, but those that attended were given the opportunity to learn technique from college wrestlers. Senior wrestler, and coach of the Eagles Wrestling club, Jeff Ausenbaugh was the camp's leader and instructor. To lend him a hand was Junior wrestler Mike Caughlin, and Freshman wrestler Bradley Abbott.

*6/29/09-7/2/09* *2009 USI Wrestling Camp*

USI Eagles Wrestling played host to a folkstyle wresting camp on the USI campus. The camp consisted of ten 1.5 hour sessions over the course of 4 days. Overnighters had the opportunity to stay in the USI dorms with a meal plan consisting of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Counselors and coaches stayed on campus overnight to provide the youngsters with the opportunity to spend time with collegiate wrestlers, and the councilors could keep them safe and out of trouble.

*Jacob Schneider* 3rd IHSAA(2008)-- 4th IHSAA(2007)



This camp was a success, getting 22 wrestlers in just its first year. The USI wrestling team has hopes of getting that number to over 100 for the next camp.
