*11/14/2009* *Dayton Invitational*

The Eagles 2009-2010 season started with a bang at the University of Dayton with a 5-0 finish. USI brought home the championship trophy after defeating the University of Dayton, Winona State, Toledo, Virginia Military Institute, and Southern Virginia. Going undefeated on the day for USI were captains Cody Moll (125 lbs), Bradley Abbott (197 lbs), and Jacob Schneider (235 lbs) with Freshman Zeke Zenthoefer (165 lbs) also going 5-0. Also finishing the day with strong 4-1 records were Jacob Wade (133), and Anthony Bell (285 lbs). Rounding out the roster for the meet, and playing a vital role in winning the event was: Cornelius King, Nolan King, Justin Willis, Jeremy Tumey, and True Cowan.

*12/5/2009* *Crusader Classic*

USI Wrestling traveled to Tennessee Temple University to compete in the 2nd annual Crusader Classic tournament on TTU campus. Jacob Wade (133) and Jacob Schneider (235) both won 1st place in their respective brackets, while Bradley Abbott (197) left with a 3rd place finish. The tournament is the last meet for the USI wrestlers until after the winter break, and it was a great meet for them to show their skills, and see what they need to work on over the break.

*1/16/2010* *Cumberland Open*

Jacob Schneider traveled, on his own, to represent USI at Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN for the Cumberland Open tournament. Schneider, who has been competing in the 235 lb. weight class all season, cut his weight down to the 197 pound class to compete with some tough NCAA and NAIA competition. Schneider won his first two matches against NCAA wrestlers before losing in the semi-finals by one point. He then was able to wrestle some tough matches to make his way back to a 5th place finish.

*1/29-30/2010* *NCWA National Duels*

The USI Wrestling squad traveled to Shelbyville, TN to wrestle in the national duels. The meet took place in Calsonic Arena which, for this event, contained 8 mats to accompany the duels. USI started on friday with a Forfeit win over Longwood University, who didn't even show. Next, USI faced the Naval Academy, and lost a tough match. After USI defeated the University of Georgia, they qualified for the Saturday matches. For their first match on saturday, USI had to wrestle the returning National Duels champions of Grand Valley State. USI suffered some injuries on Friday, so they were forfeiting 3 weight classes all day. "It is nearly impossible to win duels at this level when we are forfeiting three wieght classes, it is just too many points to give up." said Bradley Abbott. USI didn't win any of their duels on Saturday, but they did, however, nearly defeat Renselear Polytec Institute in a 29-30 loss. Outstanding performances came from:
Jacob Wade (133), Zeke Zenthoefer (165), Bradley Abbott (197), Jacob Schneider (235), Nick Lam-Chi (235), and Anthony Bell (285)

*2/7/2010* *Greyhound Open*

On Super Bowl Sunday, Freshman Heavyweight Anthony Bell, and Junior 197 pounder Bradley Abbott traveled to the University of Indianapolis to compete in the Greyhound Open tournament. The meet included wrestlers from Universities of all classes ranging from NCAA DI, DII, DIII, to NAIA and NCWA. "Tony wrestled well," said Brad Abbott about his heavyweight, who had to wrestle an opponent from IU in the first round. "He just had a bad draw, but he has gained a lot of experience from this tournament" Abbott wrestled on to a 3rd place finish in his 16-man bracket his only loss coming via a 3-2 decision in the semi-final round. The tournament was great experience for both athletes.

*2/27/2010* *North Central Conference Tournament*

Due to a lack of funds this season, the team did not compete in the NCC tournament this season. 3 wrestlers paid their own way to the event. Those wrestlers were Cody Moll (125), Jordan Edwards (149), and True Cowan (174). Cody Moll placed 4th at the tournament, which is good enough to qualify for the NCWA National Championships, but he will not attend the meet because of the lack of funds. "It's just too expensive to pay our own way to all of these meets. We will just have to work harder this off season to come up with more funds so that this doen't ever happen again." says captain Bradley Abbott. "It's a shame that we couldn't finish this year as team, because we had a pretty strong team with a few individuals that I feel could have had a shot at an All-American status. I guess that we will have some work to do this off season in order to come back next year."
