The Evansville Boneyard

Marilyn B. Gerst (1933-2003) was a well recognized name in the tri-state area who painted mainly in the representational or semi-abstract approach to subject matter as it allowed her to concentrate exclusively on the exploration of color and surface texture.

It was of primary importance to her that the surface of her paintings as they appeared up close to be of as much interest when viewed at a distance. Mood and motivation was achieved by sifting through photos and sketches and by handling related objects.

Marilyn had a loyal following for her Angel, Santa, and Snowfolk art and was a resident artist at the Brown County Art Guild in Nashville, Indiana.
