These residences in the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue in the 1930s represented one of the most affluent black neighborhoods in the city. They were, from left to right, the homes of Alfred Porter, Thomas Cheeks, Boyd Henderson, William Best, and Raymond King. The block was directly across from Lincoln High School.
